What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Machinist position at Insight Global?
JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is looking to help build out an Outside Machinist team to help support a federal client. The outside machinist will be helping in the repair and install phase upon different submarines. The outside machinist will be reading designs and drawings, measuring material, installing material, testing materials, aligning pumps and valves. They will be traveling from NOB, NNSY, and NNS to support various submarines. The candidate is required to have an active clearance or an interim clearance due to the nature of the work.
Day-to-day:
Insight Global is looking for an experienced Outside Machinist with a secret clearance and marine knowledge/background. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Will be assigned on a submarine either at NNS, NNSY, or Chesapeake shop
- Will be repair values, pumps, and Hydraulics on the submarines
-They will be doing overhaul work and not new construction
-Will install hatches and covers
-Will also need to grind, prep, and paint
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must Haves:
- 6 years of Outside Machinist experience (or mechanical experience in the shipyard does not need to be submarines)
-6 year of experience of reading designs and drawings
-Experience working on valves, pumps, and Hydraulics
-6 Years of experience with PMI tools like Olliscopes, Calipers, and Gauges
-Active Secret Clearance
-Experience working on a submarine or naval ships
Salary : $28 - $38
