Night-Shift Hospital OperatorContract (2–3 Months)Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 11:30 PM–9:30 AMPay Range: $25-32Location: Bellevue, WAContract Duration: 2–3 months with possibility of extension or per‐diem conversionAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Hospital Switchboard/PBX Operator to support overnight communication and paging operations for a major medical center. This position plays a critical role in ensuring smooth communication flow during off-hours, supporting both internal hospital teams and public callers.This is an independent, overnight role in a quiet-to-moderate call volume environment. Candidates must be reliable, calm under pressure, and comfortable working solo while following clear protocols for urgent or emergency situations.Key ResponsibilitiesAnswer and triage incoming calls to the hospital’s main phone line (public and internal)Provide patient location verification, clinic hours, and general informationPatch callers to appropriate departments such as Security, Surgical/Anesthesia (S/A), and Emergency Department (ED)Dispatch and manage pages to on-call medical and support staffRespond to and escalate urgent clinical and nonclinical situations per protocolMaintain and update on-call schedulesDocument call activity and incidents in internal systemsUtilize department OneNote/knowledge base to quickly locate and relay accurate informationOperate independently through the entire shift with minimal supervisionRequired Qualifications2 years of experience as a Hospital Operator or PBX Operator in a hospital settingStrong verbal communication and professional phone etiquetteProven phone triage skills; ability to gather key information and route appropriatelyReliable attendance and ability to work independently overnightBasic computer skills and comfort navigating digital knowledge systemsExperience patching calls to clinical and nonclinical departments (Security, S/A, ED, etc.)Ability to manage urgent call escalations calmly and accuratelyPreferred QualificationsExperience with hospital paging or dispatch systemsFamiliarity with PBX platforms (Spok, Amcom, Cisco, Avaya, etc.)Previous overnight or solo-shift experience in a healthcare communications environmentWho Thrives in This RoleIndividuals who are calm, organized, and highly reliableCandidates with strong attention to detail and judgment in urgent situationsPeople who enjoy independent work and quieter overnight environmentsHospital operators familiar with paging, on-call coordination, and emergency routingExact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
