Position: Bridge Electrician

Location: Detroit, MI

Duration: Permanent

Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm

OT: Potentially 20 hours of overtime

Must Haves:

· Michigan Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician License

· 4 years of experience as an Electrician in electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

· Experience working with industrial, commercial, municipal, transportation, or other complex electrical systems

· Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills

· Experience performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing of electrical equipment

· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation

· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights, over water, and in confined spaces.

· Ability to work significant overtime and on-call for emergency repairs

· Strong commitment to safety procedures and quality standards

Job Description:

· Install, modify, repair, program and provide routine maintenance on electrical systems, fixtures, traffic signals, HVAC electrical, electrical motors and control equipment for Bridge and structures (Department specific).

· Test and troubleshoot electrical systems.

· Work from ladders, scaffolds, lift trucks to maintain and repair electrical systems.

· Measure, cuts, bends, threads, assembles poles and installs electrical conduits.

· Installs controls and distribution apparatuses such as switches, relays, circuits, and breaker panels.

· Makes routine inspections of installed equipment and/or systems to detect hazards and needs for adjustment/replacement.

· Ability to read and interpret sketches, blueprints, and specifications

· Electricians install and repair electrical wiring systems on state and county pumphouses and Moveable Bridges and operate hand tools.

· Follow up on complaints as directed by Supervision.

· Operate CDL Equipment (pull towed equipment) and maintain a CDL with appropriate endorsements.

Summary:

Insight Global is seeking a Bridge Electrician in Detroit, MI. This individual will perform journeyman-level electrical work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment supporting moveable bridges, structures, and pump houses throughout the county. The role requires interpreting blueprints and sketches, diagnosing electrical issues, operating hand and power tools, completing field reports and maintenance logs, and ensuring safe, reliable operation of critical infrastructure. This position works closely with Bridge Mechanics, may oversee other employees, and requires operating CDL equipment while collaborating effectively with maintenance and operations teams.
