Position Overview
Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support a company's hardware development team. This individual will be responsible for designing and developing printed circuit boards (PCBs) for next-generation defense and aerospace systems. Responsibilities include schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, component selection, design reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-reliability hardware solutions.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with board-level design, PCB development, electrical architecture, and hardware integration from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for defense and aerospace applications
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout activities
- Execute board bring-up, hardware integration, and design validation
- Select components and support design reviews
- Troubleshoot and debug circuit-level hardware issues
- Create and maintain electrical schematics and design documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Support hardware programs from concept through production
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong PCB design experience, including schematic capture and board layout
- Proficiency with Altium Designer and KiCad
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design
- Experience designing multilayer PCBs and understanding stack-up considerations
- Experience with board bring-up, hardware integration, and design validation
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug circuit-level hardware issues
- Experience reading and creating electrical schematics and design documentation
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-speed digital design (DDR, Ethernet, PCIe, LVDS, etc.)
- Experience developing ruggedized hardware for aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-reliability industries
- Experience with wire harness integration and system-level hardware design
- FPGA, microcontroller, or embedded hardware design experience
- Experience supporting products from prototype through full-rate production
- Knowledge of environmental, vibration, thermal, and reliability considerations for hardware design
- Experience supporting mission-critical hardware systems
Compensation
$65.00/hr to $70.00/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
