Insight Global is seeking a Senior MS SQL DBA for a high-profile enterprise client operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This individual will serve as a trusted subject matter expert, supporting multiple mission-critical applications and leading complex SQL Server initiatives, including large-scale migrations from SQL 2016 to SQL 2022. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with business and technology teams. Day-to-Day:
- Support ~12 active projects with a heavy focus on SQL Server migrations
- Provide BAU SQL support for core enterprise business functions
- Perform performance tuning, monitoring, and proactive issue prevention
- Troubleshoot complex database and system issues across environments
- Participate in design, development, and implementation of complex database solutions
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for SQL Server technologies
- Collaborate closely with application teams, infrastructure, and stakeholders
- Manage and contribute to multiple moderately complex projects simultaneously
- Support cross-training efforts across multiple systems and platforms
Must-Haves:
- 10 years of SQL Server Administration experience
- Strong MS SQL DBA background in high-volume, high-pressure environments
- Experience with SQL Server 2016 → 2022 migrations
- Expertise in AlwaysOn, performance tuning, and optimization for large, high-tier environments
- Advanced troubleshooting and proactive stability maintenance skills
- Hands-on experience using Query Store for performance analysis
- Strong database design and architecture skills
- Experience supporting multiple critical/high-profile applications
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and after-hours work
