Overview:
A large financial services organization is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee plant operations at a high-profile Class A commercial office facility. This role combines leadership, administration, and hands-on technical expertise, supporting one of the organization’s largest U.S. office locations and interacting regularly with senior stakeholders and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of seven Engineers and an Assistant Chief Engineer
- Oversee daily operation of critical systems including chillers, cooling towers, boiler rooms, generators, ATS, and UPS
- Manage work orders, preventive maintenance, and documentation through CMMS
- Oversee vendors, service contracts, and capital project support
- Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
- Balance administrative leadership (approximately 80%) with technical engagement
- Provide overtime and weekend support as required
Required Skills:
- Prior management experience in a commercial environment, preferably Class A office facilities
- 5 years of hands-on engineering experience supporting commercial HVAC and plant systems
- Strong experience with BMS/BAS, CMMS, and energy systems
- Working knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, RTUs, AHUs, boilers, generators, ATS, and UPS
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based administrative tools
- Comfortable working in both field and executive-facing environments
Plusses:
- Financial or budgeting experience tied to plant operations or capital projects
- EPA 608 Certification
