Insight Global is seeking an Associate Counsel to support one of our clients in Annapolis MD. Our client serves as the governing body for Maryland realtors. The client is responsible public policy development, legislative advocacy, political affairs, legal and regulatory services, education, professional standards, and communication programs. This individual will report to the Director of Legal Affairs. The role will be onsite during the training period and after will be eligible to work 2 days at home and 3 days in office. It is typical for the team to work from home on Fridays and be in the office on Wednesday.
This role will include providing legal advice and support to the trade association on a variety of topics. This role involves supporting various Association committees, contributing content to the Association’s website and other materials, managing the Legal Hotline, and teaching continuing education classes.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Legal Hotline and ensuring timely responses to members
- Teaching continuing education classes and providing training and instruction to members, brokerages, local boards, and associations, either in-person or virtually, on a variety of topics including ethics, fair housing, contracts and forms updates, legislative updates, and current or topical issues.
- Writing articles for the Association’s magazine; drafting and reviewing legal articles, position papers and other legal materials.
- Supporting and managing various Association committees.
- Keeping abreast of legal developments affecting real property, fair housing, real estate brokerages, property management, commercial real estate, and agency.
- Performing legal research
Desired Skills and Experience:
- J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and Barred in the State of Maryland
- Three to five years of legal experience
- As Associate Counsel or Staff Attorney
- Proficient with Excel
- Experience drafting and review legal documents
- Comfortable with phone support regarding legal matters
Plusses:
- Knowledge of Federal and Maryland campaign finance and election laws
- Familiarity with fair housing, real property, and real estate brokerages
Compensation:
$75k to $90k per year annual salary.
