Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in medical laboratory science
Minimum 2 years Blood Bank experience (will train new graduates if needed)
Plusses :
Hospital experience preferred
New MLS, BB, CLS, MLT or AAS graduates encouraged
Job Description :
Insight Global is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician who can handle emergency situations like Massive Transfusion Protocols and Emergency Release, issuing uncross matched blood per approved procedures. They inspect and issue blood products, perform visual and temperature checks on returned blood, and dispose of improperly stored or contaminated blood. They monitor blood inventory, order supplies, and notify supervisors when stock is low. The technician will perform routine tests (ABO / Rh / Antibody Screen, Antibody Identification, Direct Antiglobulin tests, compatibility tests, phenotyping, elution, etc.), and complete proper documentation. They will also perform special methods as outlined in the Standard Operation Procedure and / or Technical Manual in resolving difficulties or multiple antibodies, ABO discrepancies, Antibodies of Undetermined Specificity, incompatible crossmatch; completes documentation. They will resolve complex cases, conduct transfusion reaction investigations, and follow Standard Operating Procedures. You will be using instruments such as Echo Lumena and Neo Iris
