Job Summary

The Tech Temp Martial Arts Instructor is responsible for leading safe, effective, and engaging martial arts classes at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center. The instructor will work with a diverse community of students, staff, and members to provide high-quality martial arts instruction in a welcoming and inclusive environment. This position offers a great opportunity for experienced martial arts instructors to inspire and motivate others to achieve their health and fitness goals. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Fitness. Per policy, employment in this Tech Temp role is limited to 1,300 hours within a 12-month period. Parking is not covered by the employer.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Directly oversee the Official's Development Program, which includes hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating of on-field/court performance of intramural student officials.

Job Duty 2 -

Provide guidance, support, and oversight for Sport Clubs and the Sport Club Executive Council to

include leadership initiatives.

Job Duty 3 -

Assist with day-to-day operations of the Tech Wreck Summer and Break Camps

Job Duty 4 -

Oversee the hiring and payroll for all student employees for Competitive Sport.

Job Duty 5 -

Ensure all Competitive Sports activities are following Georgia Tech and CRC risk management

guidelines.

Job Duty 6 -

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Prior experience teaching martial arts in a group or private setting.

CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to inspire and motivate participants in a positive, supportive manner.

Martial Art specific qualifications:

  • Hapkido, Taido, and Karate ¿ Black Belt (1st Dan or higher) from the recognized style.
  • Taekwondo ¿ Kukkiwon-certified Black Belt.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) ¿ Purple Belt or higher (Black Belt preferred).
  • Judo ¿ Black Belt (Shodan) with national certification.
  • Muay Thai ¿ Certified instructor from a recognized organization or gym.
  • Krav Maga ¿ Certified instructor from an accredited organization.
  • Capoeira ¿ Recognized rank under a Mestre or Contra-Mestre.
  • Aikido ¿ Black Belt (Shodan) from a recognized Aikido school.
  • Wing Chun / Kung Fu ¿ Instructor certification or recognized lineage.
  • Jeet Kune Do / Silat / Systema / Sambo / MMA ¿ Instructor-level certification or competitive experience.
