Position Summary
This position plays a pivotal role in advancing cancer research and improving patient outcomes by facilitating the conduct of oncology clinical trials in compliance with federal regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and institutional policies. This position independently manages multiple complex trials throughout their life cycle, including activation, implementation, and closure, under the direction of a Clinical Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities Include
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Recruitment, consent, and enrollment of study participants
- Coordination of study visits across various clinic settings
- Documentation of procedures and visits, facilitation of sample collection, and data entry
- Collaboration with research teams to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
- Clinical Research Expertise: Candidates must have experience as a study coordinator or in oncology clinical trials, with strong preference for those familiar with Phase I-III clinical research to include investigation drugs and devices, as well as translational trial experience. Prior involvement coordinating complex studies independently is preferred.
- Regulatory and Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of ICH GCP, federal regulations, and clinical protocols is required, with a preference of SOCRA or ACRP certification. Candidates should have familiarity with medical terminology, data abstraction, and navigating medical records with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Operational and Analytical Skills: Possess strong computer skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. High attention to detail in data gathering and documentation or procedures is critical.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with a customer-oriented mindset and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Work Environment Flexibility: Candidates must be able to work on-site at UNC Medical Center, UNC Chapel Hill Campus, and satellite clinics, with occasional availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
