Position OverviewThe Marketing Assistant is a part-time position (20 hours per week) that plays a key role in advancing the visibility and outreach efforts of the KU Edwards Campus and the School of Professional Studies (SPS). This individual will support storytelling, content creation, event promotion, and social media engagement. The role is ideal for a creative communicator with strong writing and design skills and an interest in higher education marketing.

For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

Job Description30% - Content Creation & Collateral Support
- Write engaging copy for newsletters, blog posts, social media content, web content, and promotional materials.
- Assist in the creation and regular updating of printed and digital academic program collateral.
- Design and update digital flyers, email campaigns, and other branded communications using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Support consistent brand voice across platforms and ensure accuracy and timeliness of messaging.
- Manage day-to-day operations of Edwards Campus and SPS social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok.
- Schedule and publish posts, monitor engagement, and respond to interactions to foster an active online presence.
- Track social media analytics and recommend adjustments to improve reach and engagement.
- Maintain and monitor the marketing events calendar to coordinate timely promotion and post-event content.
- Attend key events to take photos, capture video, and conduct short interviews with students, faculty, and community members.
- Draft feature stories and event recaps for use in digital and print communications.
- Support early-stage coordination of a podcast aimed at advancing marketing, admissions, and enrollment goals, including brainstorming, outreach, and audio asset collection if the project moves forward.
- Collect and organize testimonials from students, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
- Capture and curate multimedia assets, photography, video, and audio, to support ongoing marketing campaigns and highlight academic programs.
- Assist the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications with project coordination, file management, and communication tasks.
- Collaborate with other marketing staff and campus partners to support comprehensive communications strategies.
