Position OverviewJoin the International Collections team at Watson Library, where we join forces with KU's language departments and area studies programs. Together, we curate an awe-inspiring collection of materials from every corner of the globe, fueling the passion for research and learning at KU.

10% - Complete bibliographic searches in the online catalog.

5% - Work at the International Collections service desk.

5% - Create and update documents and files online.

5% - Research topics to support book exhibits; gather, design, create and post materials for exhibits.

5% - Update or create subject and course guides (LibGuides).

5% - Gather collection statistics.

5% - Update website information.

5% - Assist with special projects, as needed.

5% - Additional duties as assigned.Required Qualifications1. Experience in speaking, writing, and reading English, as demonstrated in application materials.

• Experience in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish and/or Portuguese, as demonstrated in application materials.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as demonstrated in the application materials.Preferred Qualifications1. Demonstrated ability to learn new web applications, as evidenced by application materials.
• Customer service experience, as evidenced by application materials.
• Graphic design experience, as evidenced by application materials.
• Multilingual experience, as evidenced by application materials.
• Organization skills, as evidenced by application materials.
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality (e.g., consistent attendance, meeting deadlines), as evidenced by application materials.
• Experience requiring attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, as evidenced by application materials.Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
• This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.Additional Candidate InstructionsThis position is available this Summer 2026 (i.e. Mid-May to Mid-August).
