Job Description:
- Program Development & Research
- Conceptualize, train and oversee the MUSE (Museum University Student Educator) program which includes creating and leading student-led art-based activities for Museum Nights.
- Create and administer adult programs for students and community members to include Museum Nights, lectures, symposia, gallery talks, civil dialogues, workshops, and campus outreach events.
- Collaborate with curators, educators, faculty, artists, and community partners to enrich programming.
- Conduct & Manage Programs
- Plans for visiting artists, scholars and performers in connection with public education programs.
- Organizes and leads academic class tours and presentations for a wide range of college disciplines.
- Represents the museum through interaction with university faculty and staff; maintains professional affiliation with colleagues at university art museums and galleries nationwide; attends and presents at professional conferences.
- Recruits, trains and supervises a corps of student volunteers for the education department, and provides oversight for the paid internship program.
$45,000-$55,000
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
- Experience and/or advanced degree in art education, arts administration, art history, education, student engagement or related field
- Knowledge of art history and interest in a wide range of art.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed, organized and career minded; ability to work independently
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technology and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with students in a university gallery or museum
- Two - four years of arts administration or museum education experience
- Knowledge of methods of data collection; Ability to compile and analyze data for administrative decisions
- Experience with business processes, budgets, and grants
