What You’ll Do
This position serves as the College’s primary administrator and subject matter expert for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), with responsibility for ensuring full compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. The role manages complex and sensitive FMLA cases and provides guidance to employees and leadership to ensure consistent application of leave practices across the College.
In addition, this position plays a key role in supporting the administration of the College’s benefits programs, assisting employees with benefit-related questions, enrollment processes, and issue resolution. The role also provides advanced HR support, including policy interpretation, and compliance-focused initiatives, while operating with a high degree of independence and judgment.

Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Administration:
- Administers the College’s Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) program in collaboration with the Benefits Manager.
- Communicates with employees to ensure required notices and documentation are provided in compliance with federal law.
- Manages the FMLA process from eligibility determination through return-to-work, including medical certification, intermittent/reduced schedule leave tracking, and documentation.
- Provides guidance to employees and supervisors throughout the leave process and ensures consistency with college policy and federal regulations.
- Administers the College’s FMLA program in collaboration with the Benefits Manager, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations.
- Manages the full lifecycle of FMLA cases, including eligibility determination, required notices, medical certification, tracking, and return-to-work processes.
- Oversees complex FMLA leave scenarios, including intermittent and reduced schedule leave, overlapping leave types, and potential misuse or abuse.
- Interprets FMLA regulations and college policies to provide clear, consistent guidance to employees and supervisors.
- Maintains accurate and confidential records of all FMLA leave activity in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitors leave usage trends and identify potential compliance risks or patterns requiring further review.
- Conducts periodic audits of FMLA leave records and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develops, maintains, and updates internal procedures, forms, and guidance related to FMLA administration.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for FMLA-related questions, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Develops and conducts quarterly FMLA workshops for employees and supervisors to promote understanding of leave rights, responsibilities, and processes.
- Supports the administration of the College’s benefits programs, including guiding employees through enrollment, qualifying life events, and benefit changes across multiple systems.
- Serves as a resource to employees by explaining benefit options, processes, and requirements across both institutional and state-administered programs.
- Assists employees with resolving benefit-related issues by coordinating with internal systems, HR team members, and external vendors.
- Supports benefits-related communications, education, and outreach efforts, including onboarding and open enrollment activities.
- Provides support to the HR department in other benefits- and payroll-related areas as assigned.
- Participate in professional development, training sessions, and workshops to stay current on HR practices and compliance requirements.

- A high school diploma or its equivalent, and four (4) years of responsible human resources experience; or a combination of education and/or experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related major from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
