Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit:
Enterprise Research Technology’s primary purpose is to empower research, innovation, and community-engaged scholarship by delivering secure, compliant, and researcher-centered technology services that scale with UNCG’s Research growth. This include direct support of the 20 departments and centers that report to the VC of Research and auxiliary support of Research projects across UNCG. Enterprise Research Technology manages research computing enablement (HPC facilitation), research technology consultation, enterprise-aligned research storage, and research data lifecycle support, along with governance participation through committee representation to ensure services remain responsive to evolving research and community needs.
Position Summary:
This position serves as the Information Technology Support Analyst for the Division of Research and Engagement which in turn supports the IT functions of all departments, centers, institutes and communities within DORE as well as other research related projects across the UNCG campus and remote Research centers. This position will support hardware, software andnetworking needs in the research area, maintain inventory listings for DORE, and work with a variety of clients to resolve IT problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration, Networking Technology, or related area and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role: or a Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role: or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Tasks:
- Work independently to resolve hardware, software and networking issues for end users. Analyze recurring problems and technical issues to resolve specific user needs.
- Maintain Conference Room technology and assist with hardware and software needs of conference room users.
- Provide training and step-by-step instructions for ORE staff and researchers in use of software and hardware. This includes remote support as needed.
Hardware Deployment
Essential Tasks:
- Advise and assist users in selecting and ordering computer equipment.
- Manage the intake and imaging of new computers and other technology equipment including projectors, computer peripherals and video conferencing equipment. Assist with shipping equipment to remote users.
Technology Inventory Management

- Independently manage desktop, Laptop, projector and telephone inventory.
- Identify users in need of upgraded hardware in strategically recommend replacement Hardware.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory system within appropriate software systems.
