Advertised Job Summary
This position will play a critical role in the Institute’s tick-borne disease research program. Their primary responsibilities will involve overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the domestic and international tick-borne disease research, including study design, data analysis, and project management. They will provide daily operational oversight while working with faculty leadership to design prospective grant applications/studies. This position will directly support the University’s mission of research excellence through the supervision of high-quality data collection for an NIH-funded R01 grant on designing novel statistical methods to guide tick vector surveillance programs, as well as for pilot studies in Latin America on emerging tick-borne pathogens causing febrile human disease, to support prospective, competitive center-level grant applications.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related fields.
- Experience working on medical entomology research projects.
- Solid background working on tick intake, processing, and diagnostic testing
- Working knowledge of field sampling design and executing these designs in real-world settings
- Willing to spend 1 or 2 days a week traveling for work-related events.
- Professionalism, including the following attributes: punctuality, integrity, conflict resolution, continuous learning, productivity, ability to work in a team environment, and flexibility.
- Strong working knowledge of medical entomology and vector identification methods
- A strong working knowledge of tick biology and ecology, and tick surveillance and diagnostic methodologies, is preferred.
