Salary: $81,176 - $112,865* annually

Proposed Start Date: Fall Quarter 2026 (September)

Olympic College seeks faculty who are dedicated to student-centered learning and to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment. The Phlebotomy Full-Time Tenure Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and academic leadership within the Phlebotomy program. This position involves teaching didactic, laboratory, and clinical coursework, advising and mentoring students, contributing to program assessment and accreditation, and participating in department, division, and college activities to support student success, workforce preparation, and professional growth.Essential Functions

  • Teach courses in the Phlebotomy program, including lectures, laboratory, and clinical instruction;
  • Develop, revise, and maintain curriculum aligned with industry standards, licensing/accreditation standards and best practices;
  • Prepare course syllabi and instructional materials and provide them to students by the first day of class;
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods to support diverse learning needs;
  • Integrate technology and the learning management system (LMS) to enchance student engagement and learning;
  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective phlebotomy practice;
  • Collaborate with clinical partners to support high quality clinical education experiences;
  • Ensure compliance with clinical site requirements, safety standards, and scope of practice regulations;
  • Provide academic and career advising, mentoring and support for students;
  • Maintain regular, scheduled office hours for student consultation;
  • Identify individual learning needs and make appropriate instructional adjustments;
  • Participate in faculty governance, department, and division meetings, and college committees;
  • Engage in professional development to maintain currency in field;
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the Division and College;
  • Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses as assigned;
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Phlebotomy, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related health field;
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in phlebotomy;
  • Experience teaching and/or precepting phlebotomy students in a clinical or educational setting;
  • National phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT);
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from various backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities;
  • Computer competency to include Microsoft Office Suites applications;
  • The gross and fine motor skills required to assist students and provide safe effective phlebotomy services;
  • The physical endurance and ability to work in a clinical setting with students for 4-6 hours;
  • The physical endurance and strength sufficient to assist students with providing phlebotomy services; and
  • Currently hold an unencumbered Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist credential in WA state.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Phlebotomy, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related health field;
  • Prior classroom and clinical teaching experience in a community college setting; and
  • Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS.

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
