Job Description
The department of Philosophy at Sarah Lawrence College seeks a half-time guest faculty member to teach two courses (either two courses in one semester or one course each semester) to begin in fall 2026. At least one of these classes must be in Philosophy of Technology, and preference will be given to candidates with specialization, competence, or prior experience teaching in this field. We will also prioritize candidates with broad knowledge in the History of Philosophy. Additional areas of competence that are welcome are: Socio-Political Philosophy, Feminist Thought, Ancient/Medieval Philosophy.
Application materials should include: a cover letter addressing your teaching experience in the relevant fields, CV, two sample syllabi of courses, at least one of which in Philosophy of Technology, course evaluations, and one reference who will be contacted for a letter of recommendation upon the submission of the candidate’s application.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This is an in-person teaching appointment, with the expectation that the appointed individual will teach on campus for the duration of the contract period.
Compensation for this position is a per course rate based on experience. Required Qualifications
Applicants should have a PhD in Philosophy; we will consider advanced PhD students who have prior College level teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
