Typical Duties/Job Duties
- Teach in the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum in assigned areas of expertise, with emphasis on neurological rehabilitation and inpatient practice environments.
- Provide instruction and mentorship in related clinical content areas, including acute care, home health, and skilled nursing facility (SNF) practice.
- Engage in scholarly activity consistent with program and institutional expectations, including research, publication, and professional presentations.
- Advise and mentor students regarding academic, clinical, and professional development.
- Participate in program and curriculum development to ensure alignment with current practice standards and CAPTE accreditation requirements.
- Contribute to service activities within the program, department, college, university, and professional community.
- Demonstrate expertise in neurological and inpatient rehabilitation practice.
- Ability to integrate clinical experience into academic instruction using evidence-based and contemporary teaching methods.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and clinical partners.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and promoting student success.
- Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD, DSc, DPT, or tDPT) required.
- Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the State of Texas is required.
- Record of clinical experience in neurological and/or inpatient rehabilitation practice.
- Experience managing complex patient cases in acute care, home health, or SNF settings.
- Advanced clinical competency such as completion of a clinical fellowship or residency or ABPTS board certification.
- Established record of academic or clinical teaching experience.
- Record of scholarly productivity and professional service.
