Description

Non-tenure track (NTT) position as Lecturer, Teaching Professor, or Faculty of Practice Series will reside within the Department of Supply Chain Management.

The faculty member will report to the Department Head of Supply Chain Management and work closely with other tenured and non-tenured supply chain management faculty in order to collaboratively achieve our department’s instructional goals.

The NTT faculty member will also be expected to engage, inform, motivate and build connections with students and external university partners; and have an ability to work in a team-based, client-centered, and fast-paced setting.

The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to promote an atmosphere where all members of the university community feel welcome and can thrive.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate is expected to be able to teach in the undergraduate/graduate Operations Management and/or Manufacturing courses offered by the SCM Department. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience in these stated subareas although other subfields of Supply Chain Management including Procurement, Logistics Management, Information Technology, and Supply Chain Planning/Strategy will also be considered during the search. The ability to relate to real-world experience in academic settings is essential.

Rank and Classification will be determined based on a candidate’s qualifications and experience in accordance with the following requirements for each series. Terminal degree and professional industry experience are required at the time of application.

Lecturer / Teaching Assistant Professor / Assistant Professor of Practice:

Required: Graduate degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline with some teaching and/or industry experience in Operations Management and/or Manufacturing subject matter.

Preferred: A Ph.D., or D.B.A. from an accredited institution in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.

Senior Lecturer / Teaching Associate Professor / Associate Professor of Practice:

Required: A Ph.D., or D.B.A. from an accredited institution in Supply Chain Management or related discipline with a demonstrated record of high-quality and innovative teaching and/or industry experience in Operations Management and/or Manufacturing courses.

Preferred: The ideal candidate should also possess at least five years of professional Supply Chain Management industry experience or experience teaching Operations Management and/or Manufacturing courses at an accredited institution; significant leadership responsibility would be beneficial.

Distinguished Lecturer / Teaching Professor / Professor Of Practice

Required: A Ph.D., or D.B.A. from an accredited institution in Supply Chain Management or related discipline with a demonstrated record of at least ten years of high-quality and innovative teaching in Operations Management and/or Manufacturing courses at an accredited institution, as well as professional Supply Chain Management industry experience or experience teaching; significant leadership responsibility is required.

Preferred: Teaching experience with institutions recognized for their expertise in Supply Chain Management; Experience teaching multiple subjects within Supply Chain Management and with online course delivery. Knowledge of both the operational and strategic importance of Supply Chain Management in both research and applied settings. Other highly desirable qualifications include the demonstrated ability to build connections with students and external university partners; an understanding of business school research and programming; and the ability to work in a team-based, client-centered, fast-paced, and innovative setting.
