Trinity Washington University invites applications for the position of Newsroom Editor/Instructor in the Center for Journalism, Media & Communication. Trinity today enrolls a majority of Black and Hispanic students in undergraduate, graduate, certificate and dual enrollment programs. 95% of the student are female; 50% are residents of the District of Columbia, and most Trinity graduates reside in the greater Washington region. Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and supervise students producing content for the student news organization Trinity Times in multiple formats: articles, photography, video and podcasts. This would include students enrolled in Journalist in Residence.
- Teach one to two courses per semester in the Journalism and Media Studies program.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to support journalism and communication projects related to their fields.
- Work closely with faculty, staff and internship supervisors to guide students in the ethical creation of multimedia content.
- Liaise with local newsrooms to support student internship development and oversight.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in a news organization or media relations office.
- Demonstrated ability to produce and edit multimedia content across platforms.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Preferred: Experience in video storytelling, podcasting, and/or technical studio operations — or willingness to develop these skills on the job.
- Desired: Experience teaching at the college level.
- Master’s degree in journalism, mass communication or a related field preferred.
