Position OverviewThe Department of Educational Psychology seeks to hire a .50 FTE Lecturer to teach in-person courses on the KU Lawrence campus beginning in Fall 2026. We seek a dedicated educator who will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the university level. The position is a one academic year, (8/18/2026-5/16/2027), non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established university procedures.

Job Description80% Teaching:

  • Teach two 3.0 credit hour courses each semester in the Educational Psychology department, including both undergraduate and graduate courses. Specific course assignments will be determined via consultation between the successful candidate and the department chair, but will generally focus on child and adolescent development.

20% Service:

  • Supervise graduate teaching assistants.
  • Serve on student committees (i.e., thesis, dissertation, and comprehensive exam).
  • Contribute to program evaluation and curricular improvements.
  • Contribute to the mission of the department and university through service activities focused on teaching and student success.
  • Engage in scholarship and/or professional development related to teaching
  • Maintain regular weekly office hours to provide academic support and guidance to students enrolled in assigned courses.
  • Attend and participate in monthly department faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in educational psychology, developmental psychology, human development, or a closely related field
  • At least one year of higher education teaching experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as evidenced by application materials.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other program faculty in continuous improvement efforts as evidenced by application materials.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position.
