Example Of Duties
- Leads the installation, repair, and maintenance of all district audio-video equipment in classrooms, conference rooms and large venues.
- Develops and maintains schedules to ensure proper staffing and operation of all campus and civic use events that require staging services.
- Analyzes campus and civic use events to accurately determine the projection, lighting, audio, rigging systems and the support crew required.
- Coordinates and provides technical support for all events in all large venues on campus.
- Installs, maintains, and operates theater equipment including light fixtures, lighting controls, audio mixing equipment, projectors, speakers, rigging, and other staging equipment.
- Coordinates projects related to the installation, maintenance and upgrades of audio video, smart classroom, broadcast, and staging equipment.
- Develops regular inspection and maintenance schedules for audio, lighting, and projection equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Assists with the development of campus-wide standards for audio-video, smart classroom, broadcast, and staging equipment.
- Conducts orientations for hourly staff to train new employees on how to use digital timecard system and to review departmental policies and procedures.
- Verifies and approves timecards of hourly employees.
- Researches the technical needs of the department to assist with the establishment of priority levels for the type of equipment needed to support departmental operations.
- Facilitates the purchase and maintenance of capital equipment and supplies and assists in budget development.
- Provides direction to classified and unclassified staff.
- Select, hire, and train unclassified staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Audio-Video production, Theater Management or a related discipline, such as Information Technology, Performing and Communication Arts, Broadcasting Technology, or Multimedia.
- Six years of experience in the support and maintenance of audio-video equipment in classrooms, conference rooms and other large venues or experience in theater/staging operations.
- An equivalent combination of training, certifications, and experience.
- Extron Control Specialist or Professional Certification
Knowledge Of
- Understanding of video and projection technology (digital/analog video feeds, screen resolution, projectors, software), sound mixing (digital/analog audio, microphones, speakers, monitors, amplifiers), and lighting control systems (LED, incandescent, HID, Xenon lighting, color media, fixtures).
- Familiarity with power distribution systems (power feeds, distro boxes).
- Proficiency in Extron control systems for designing and troubleshooting complex A/V setups, including knowledge of Extron Global Viewer and Configurator.
- Experience with Avid Pro Tools and Dante network protocols.
- Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, Subnets, VLANs), including managing audio/video network protocols and audio networks.
- Basic knowledge in carpentry, rigging (theatre equipment, props, performers), and set construction. Application of theater safety practices to minimize risks.
- Competence in Enterprise Resource Management software for tracking expenditures, along with general office software for reports, data aggregation, and communication.
- Budget management skills for funding theatre equipment and staffing needs.
- Ability to schedule, and lead staff, ensuring performance events are properly staffed and equipment needs are met.
- Capable of developing employee performance strategies and evaluations.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, for delegating tasks, managing staff, and liaising with the campus community.
- Maintain a valid Class C Driver's License to operate District vehicles and transport theater equipment, set pieces, and construction equipment.
- Demonstrated experience working with communities who have been traditionally underserved by higher education and experience in the pedagogy reflecting intersections of race, culture, class, ethnic, and queer communities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
- This is primarily a sedentary office classification, however; standing and walking between work areas may be required.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds, pushing and pulling, walking and standing for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of hand and power tools, reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally, and kneeling or crouching.
