K-INBRE Undergraduate Student Research Assistant

Position OverviewThe K‑INBRE program offers undergraduate students who have been accepted into the K‑INBRE scholarship program, hands‑on research experience in fields such as Molecular Biosciences, Medicinal Chemistry, and Engineering. Working closely with a faculty mentor, K‑INBRE trainees collect and analyze data, maintain accurate research records, and present their findings at program symposia. The program emphasizes research integrity while supporting students’ academic and professional development in biomedical research.

The KINBRE program will provide an opportunity for undergraduate level trainees to get exposure to cutting edge research. Each trainee will be appointed a mentor, conduct research in the fields of Molecular Biosciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry and related fields. The students will collect and analyze data and maintain appropriate records of their research. Trainees will also present their research findings at local, regional and/or national symposia.

The award recipients will be required to promote objectivity in research by establishing standards that provide a reasonable expectation that the design, conduct and reporting required for NIH funded research. The KINBRE training program will support undergraduate researchers with opportunities to conduct fundamental, translational or entrepreneurial research. The overall goal of the program is to provide a career pathway for students interested in a career in biomedical research.Job Description90% - Research Activities

• Attend required meetings, seminars, workshops, and other program-sponsored activities to enhance research skills, scientific knowledge, and professional development.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Students must have an interest in biomedically-relevant laboratory research, as indicated in application materials.
  
  

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.To ensure consideration, apply before the application review date of April 28th, 2026.
