General Summary Of Position

UMass Lowell’s Division of Graduate, Online & Professional Studies (GPS) is seeking a qualified candidate to join its expanding team of graduate student success professionals. The Graduate Enrollment Support Specialist will assist with enrollment advising, retention activities, student success initiatives, and related administrative functions within the Graduate Student Success Office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as direct, front-line responder to incoming student phone inquiries.
  • Triage and respond to the unit email queue and case submissions (CRM management).
  • Support the student registration processes, including resolving holds and referring students to graduate program coordinators.
  • Provide general academic guidance and assist students in understanding university policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to reenrollment outreach efforts, including call campaigns.
  • Support academic standing communications and monitoring of anytime alerts.
  • Conduct benchmarking and web‑based research to support departmental planning.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Graduate Student Success (GSS) team on student success and community‑building initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and execution of events, including orientations, Doctoral Student Convocation, and open house.
  • Maintain and organize shared electronic files and folders.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in student retention, re‑enrollment initiatives, and/or academic advising at a higher education institution is required.
  • Experience gathering, tracking, and managing information from various sources, including maintaining records in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is required.
  • Knowledge of—or the ability and willingness to learn—Student Information Systems (SIS) and Salesforce is preferred.

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide advising that is empathetic, consistent, accurate, student‑centered, and developmentally supportive.
  • Evidence of commitment to working effectively with diverse student populations, including but not limited to first‑generation, veteran, low‑income, adult, and other underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Strong service orientation, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting student success and goal attainment.
  • Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
