Job Summary

As a graduate student advancement leader, you play a key part in the success of UWG's Annual Giving initiatives. This position supports the solicitation of annual gifts on behalf of UWG, the engagement of alumni and the University community, as well as execution of administrative tasks and events (virtual and/or in-person). As a student advancement leader, you will serve in a visible student ambassador role called on to share your UWG experience and garner support for the university. This position will provide you the opportunity to exercise and further develop skills in the areas of: leadership, client services, communications and fundraising; while helping you to build resume criteria that will provide you experience that lends to a competitive edge in any career choice. As a graduate student advancement leader, you will:

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Percentage Of Total Time 40%
    • Responsibility / Duty Lead Calling, Supervising, scheduling, and motivating a team of 3 student callers.
  • Percentage Of Total Time 20%
    • Responsibility / Duty Organizing, interpreting, and analyzing data using spreadsheets.
  • Percentage Of Total Time 20%
    • Responsibility / Duty Assisting with small Annual Giving projects (ex. helping the AG team prepare for A Day).
  • Percentage Of Total Time 15%
    • Responsibility / Duty Assisting the Annual Giving Team with drafting and preparing calling scripts.
  • Percentage Of Total Time 5%
    • Responsibility / Duty Mandatory Compliance Training, Job Training and any other Professional Development.
Required Qualifications

To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
  • Hold a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills including effective internet searching, comfort with Microsoft Word, and the ability to learn to use specialized computer programs.
  • Comfort creating pivot tables and custom filters in Excel.
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately work under minimal supervision.
  • Supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Call center experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Possess strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Display strong writing and grammar skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Licensed driver

Proposed Salary

  • A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
  • A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Work is predominantly performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Must have the ability to walk short distances, to deliver and pick up materials.
