Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for FUSE Student Researchers in Psychological Science on the Gainesville campus. The Faculty-Undergraduate Summer Engagement Program (FUSE) seeks two researchers who are currently enrolled UNG students for the project Does Victim Identity Matter? Race and Gender in Juror Decisions. The selected candidates will work 20 hours per week for a total of 8 weeks (June 1 - July 24, 2026) on this project under the mentorship of Dr. Connie Ringger in the Department of Psychological Science. The student researchers will need a strong foundation in psychological science. The student researchers will review relevant research, revise experimental stimuli as needed and program the experimental stimuli in Qualtrics, collect data through an online source and in person, analyze data, and write research reports. The student researchers will also present the findings at least one academic conference. The research assistant will also join the FUSE program to conduct focused and meaningful research, scholarly and creative activities alongside a faculty researcher from June 1 - July 24, 2026. This includes in-person workshops and group meetings once a week for the duration of the program.

- Conduct literature review of relevant studies.
- Program experimental stimuli in Qualtrics.
- Collect data from human participants through an online source and in person.
- Monitor data collected, at time of collection.
- Clean and analyze data.
- Create research presentations & disseminate at FUSE-wide meetings and at an academic conference.
- Create a final report discussing future directions for self and other students.
- Ability to read psychological research, analyze quality of different studies' methodology, and synthesize studies' findings into a conclusion.
- Currently enrolled at UNG and will not graduate prior to December 2026.
- Preferred experience with Qualtrics and SPSS.
- Preferred knowledge and interest in psychology and the law, particularly juror bias.
- Preferred knowledge and interest in gender and/or racial/ethnic minorities.
