Our extension specialists connect university expertise with local needs to strengthen the economic vitality and resilience of coastal communities. Position Summary:
This position will serve as a Program Coordinator for the Fisherman First Aid and Safety Training (FFAST) Program being developed for the commercial fishing industry in Georgia and the south Atlantic region. The Program Coordinator will handle day-to-day coordination and operational responsibilities for the project and will be the primary point of contact between the project team and community stakeholders. This will involve participation in data coding and analysis of needs assessment data, content development and organization of the adapted curriculum, managing training and certification of trainers, US Coast Guard certification of the adapted course, recruitment of participants, assist with implementation of the trainings, maintaining open communication channels, anticipating and solving problems, and providing the support and assistance needed to achieve the satisfactory and efficient participation of the fishing community. This staff person will be responsible for managing the project office and for producing periodic progress reports and other communications related to this project.
This position has a limited term appointment which is expected to end 1 year after start date. The position may be extended beyond the initial term, contingent upon continued funding.
