NWU seeks to hire a Director of the Cooper Center for Academic Support Services. This full-time 10-month position reports to the Dean of Undergraduate Programs and will collaborate with all Directors of the Academic Success Collaborative at The Hub, where every student is empowered to thrive in a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive academic environment that nurtures the whole person.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operation of the campus academic learning center (Cooper Center).

Develop, coordinate, and implement workshops, programs and services that reflect best practices in supporting the success of students in writing, speaking, study skills, academic success strategies, and the research process.

Maintain current knowledge of writing and learning centers, including composition, communication, and learning theories and pedagogy through ongoing professional development activities

Identify, interview, hire, and train Peer Tutors across various disciplines.

Oversee the administration of the online appointment scheduling system.

Supervise Peer Tutors and Welcome Desk Staff.

Oversee the training and continued education of student staff and support best practices for learning center administration and operations.

Conduct outreach to faculty and staff to determine how the Cooper Center can best serve the campus community.

Manage the annual Cooper Center budget and federal student work hours (which includes welcome desk staff and 30 peer tutors).

Collect and analyze data from the online scheduling system for the Cooper Center annual report.

Write and submit a Cooper Center annual report to Academic Affairs.

Conduct regular program assessments.

Sustain the activities of the Cooper Center Advisory Board.

Serve as an embedded writing consultant for Graduate Students.Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field is required.

Five years of relevant experience with academic learning centers is preferred; priority will be given to candidates with experience in academic learning center administration.

Knowledge of learning and academic support theory; experience with the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) and/or the International College Learning Center Associate (ICLCA) is highly desirable.

Excellent writing, proofreading, and organizational skills; must be detail oriented, adaptable, and flexible, and work in an environment with multiple interruptions.

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Experience with technical documentation is a plus.

Ability to maintain and handle confidential information.

Ability to learn new technologies.

Experience with Microsoft Office 365.

Familiarity with CRM and scheduling software systems and data management.
