Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Data Science Intern - Institutional Student Worker.

This Position Will

Learn how to apply statistical and machine learning techniques to real institutional challenges.

Strengthen ability to design a full analytics workflow, from question to model to insight.

Gain experience communicating findings to nontechnical audiences.

Learn to manage a project with defined milestones and outcomes.

Understand ethical considerations and responsible use of predictive analytics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied data science projects (e.g., enrollment forecasting, capacity planning, student success modeling).
• Collaborate with a faculty mentor to define project scope, methodology, and deliverables.
• Build models and perform analysis in Python or R.
• Prepare clear reports, visualizations, and briefings for university stakeholders.
• Document methods, code, assumptions, and results for reproducibility.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Coursework in data science, modeling, or machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python or R for analysis and visualization.
• Ability to clean, prepare, and analyze structured datasets.
• Strong analytical thinking, documentation habits, and teamwork.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
