Job Summary

The Coordinator of Student Activities is responsible for overseeing programs and services focused on advancing student engagement through campus activities, student organizations, extended-orientation programs, and social media. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Life and indirectly reports to the Director of Residential and Campus Life.

Responsibilities

  • Recognized Student Organization Management (25%)
    • Manage annual student organization recognition program to ensure students and advisors have knowledge and resources of university expectations and policies. This includes, but not limited to, officer leadership training, organization constitution review, risk management education and other relevant requirements.
    • Administrator of MyGSW for student organizations. Ensures MyGSW and the GSW Website are up to date with information, promotes use, generate usage reports.
    • Maintain accurate records of RSO status and contact information.
    • Facilitate, track, and advise student leaders on re-recognition for RSOs.
  • Primary adviser to Student Engagement Team (SET) (25%)
    • Recruit, train, and advise members of the SET team.
    • Provide guidance and support to campus activities programming board, SET.
    • Manage program budget.
    • Attend planning meetings and events.
    • Ensure programs are communicated and marketed to key stakeholders.
    • Assess programs for continuation and improvement.
  • University sponsored programs and events. (20%)
    • Coordinate student engagement events during New Student Orientation.
    • Assists with development and implementation of department sponsored programs.
    • Serve as point of contact in planning and partnering university sponsored events focused on student engagement.
    • Advise student committees responsible for themed events/weeks ¿ Welcome Week, Homecoming, Blue and Gold Week, Student Appreciation, Pancakes with the President.
    • Partner with Athletics Department on building game day experience and student attendance.
  • Oversee student social media marketing team, DROP. (10%)
    • Recruit, train, and advise members of the SET team.
    • Supervise student employees and volunteers in DROP
    • Manage department social media.
    • Provide direction and training to DROP on marketing priorities.
  • Recognition Programs (10%)
    • Plan and implement student and student organization recognition programs that promote engagement, school pride, leadership, service, and other applicable priorities.
    • Coordinate student awards banquet.
    • Assist colleagues with student recognition efforts.
  • Department Initiatives (5%)
    • Assists with development and implementation of new department initiatives focused on advancing student engagement and success.
    • Serve as student organization advisor as needed.
    • Partner with Athletics Department on building game day experience and student attendance.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor¿s degree with one or more years of work related experience.
  • Master¿s degree, preferred.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Assistant Director of Campus Life assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines used in this position include university policies and procedures, recognized student organization policies and procedures, USG policies and procedures, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
