Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit:

UNCG’s Division of Enrollment Management consists of five departments that work across the student lifecycle to facilitate and support recruitment and retention. Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Enrollment Communications, the University Registrar’s Office, and a centralized business operations unit report to the division. The Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, along with the Associate Vice Chancellor, provides leadership and supervision for these units (each headed by a Director/Registrar) and also provides strategic enrollment management for the institution as a whole, regularly interacting with and coordinating the enrollment initiatives of the Graduate School, Global Engagement Office, Lloyd International Honors College, and academic schools and colleges. Overseeing the institution’s enrollment management plan, the Vice Chancellor works closely with senior leadership and others to establish enrollment targets and estimate annual resource generation tied to enrollment. The Vice Chancellor works closely with the Chancellor to facilitate an environment where enrollment management and student success are closely tied to promote student retention and graduation.

Position Summary:

Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment plays a critical leadership role within the division by serving as second in command for the division and serving as the primary leader in the absence of the Vice Chancellor. In partnership with the VCEM, the AVC will lead the development, execution, and assessment of enrollment and financial aid strategies for all new undergraduates and will work directly with the Deans on enrollment planning at the College/Unit/School level. The AVC will be responsible for guiding a state-of-the art new student recruitment approach that includes selecting and implementing enrollment technologies that advance the ability to make data-informed decisions and measurable resource planning. This includes yield optimization modeling, financial aid leveraging optimization, CPOS implementation, and strategic communication across audience types. The AVC will lead metrics-driven key decisions related to the development and execution of enrollment plans and programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications include a relevant Master’s degree and 10 years of progressive experience in admissions and enrollment management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualifications include progressive experience in the leadership of an enrollment management department, direct experience at a large, public university, and experience in financial aid leveraging and leading a comprehensive enrollment strategy.

Key Responsibility:

Lead a strategic new student enrollment and recruitment plan and successfully meet the goals set forth in the plan.

Essential Tasks:

  • In partnership with the Vice Chancellor and senior enrollment team, the Associate Vice Chancellor will lead the development, execution and assessment of enrollment and financial aid strategies and tactics leading to the continued development of a state-of–the art enrollment approach that addresses objectives, resources and opportunities of the 21st century.
  • The AVC will offer innovation in the development, execution and assessment of the division’s operating policies and procedures, which have direct impact on achieving enrollment goals.T
  • The Associate Vice Chancellor will lead metrics-driven efforts to drive key decisions related to the development and execution of enrollment plans and programs.
  • They will organize, track, report and assess enrollment data to inform and shape departmental efforts in achieving enrollment and revenue goals.

Lead Financial Leveraging Strategy, Execution, and Analysis

Essential Tasks:

  • Lead a comprehensive financial leveraging program for new student recruitment that encompasses both merit and CITI funds, leading staff from both Admissions, Enrollment Reporting,, and Financial Aid in this initiative.
  • Have continual oversight of the plan and provide continual analysis that contains what-if scenario planning to maximize execution of aid/merit dollars in the recruitment process.
  • The Associate Vice Chancellor will work closely with the Vice Chancellor and the Director of Financial Aid to assist in the development, monitoring, assessment, and planning of the financial aid budget, which includes merit awards, leveraging policies, and the overall discount rate. Further, they will assist in ensuring the financial aid process is streamlined and effectively serving students through the financial aid application, awarding, and notification processes for new students and families.

Essential Tasks:

  • The AVC will represent the Division and University at a wide variety of community and professional events, both internal and external.
  • Internally, the AVC will be expected to serve, and often lead, on a variety of campus committees, councils, and search committees.
  • The AVC will readily engage in speaking opportunities at school programs, conferences, and other key events.
  • They will cultivate and maintain relationships with key constituents, high schools, community-based organizations, foundations, and others in advancing the goals and objectives of University enrollment.
  • The AVC will be expected to keep abreast of industry best practices, national and regional enrollment headwinds, and enrollment innovations.
  • They will be expected to apply what they learn to advance UNCG’s enrollment operation.

Essential Tasks:

  • The AVC will be charged with developing and leading many special initiatives to enhance enrollment.
  • They will serve as the executive sponsor, functional lead, or key constituent on all EM technical implementations.
  • The AVC will be expected to lead the development of programs, policies, and processes to advance enrollment.
  • They will be in charge of continual innovation and continuous quality improvement for the division.

  • In addition, they will identify professional development opportunities for division staff.
