The Assistant to the President is a full-time position and reports to the Chief of Staff to the President. The Assistant to the President fulfills a wide range of duties to support the President of the University of Georgia. These include serving as the President’s liaison with multiple campus units, engaging with select external stakeholders on behalf of the President, developing executive communications, planning and supporting events hosted by the Office of the President, and managing special projects associated with institutional and office priorities.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as the President’s liaison to multiple campus units, including—but not limited to—the Division of Public Service and Outreach, the Office of Research, the Office of Admissions, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of University Architects, and the Office of Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness. Support the President in the execution of duties related to these units.
- Serve as the President’s liaison to various campus bodies, including—but not limited to—the University Cabinet, the University Council, the President’s Faculty Advisory Committee, the Major Repair and Renovations Committee, and various facility steering committees. Support the President in the execution of duties related to these bodies.
- Serve as the President’s liaison to various cooperative organizations, including—but not limited to—the UGA Research Foundation and the UGA Real Estate Foundation. Support the President in the execution of duties related to these organizations.
- Staff and coordinate events sponsored and supported by the Office of the President, including—but not limited to—the annual President’s Club reception, the annual UGA Founders Day luncheon, and receptions held in conjunction with home football games.
- Generate and edit executive communications on behalf of the Office of the President, including remarks, correspondence, memos, talking points, messages, news releases, and other assets.
- Execute special projects related to the above items.
- Engage and assist University of Georgia stakeholders and external constituents by assisting with email correspondence and phone calls, and attending various community events.
- Jointly supervise an administrative specialist and approve time worked.
- Train and mentor a graduate research assistant.
- Provide strategic advice to the President in the absence of the Chief of Staff.
- Other duties as assigned in line with this job description.
