This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Job Description Summary
Assist the head coach with responsibilities associated with one or more Chapman University Division III athletics teams. Duties include coaching, teaching, recruiting, fundraising and other duties as assigned in support of the athletics department. Flexible schedule and some travel may be required. Successful candidate is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the University and NCAA. This position will have campus security authority (CSA) related responsibilities under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, which is a federal law requiring disclosure of information about crimes on and around campus.

Responsibilities
Team Practice Preparation
- Assist in planning and organizing daily practice sessions
- Develop practice plans in collaboration with the head coach
- Set up and break down equipment and training stations
- Ensure athletes are prepared physically and mentally for practice
- Assist in in-game strategy and decision-making
- Provide feedback and instruction to athletes during competition
- Manage substitutions, monitor player performance, and maintain communication with the coaching staff
- Ensure the team is prepared with the necessary equipment and materials
- Analyze opponent strategies, player tendencies, and team formations
- Create scouting reports to aid in game planning
- Identify and evaluate potential recruits in accordance with team needs and program goals
- Maintain recruiting database and communication records
- Record and edit game and practice footage
- Upload and share film through appropriate platforms (e.g., Hudl, Synergy)
- Organize and archive video content for easy access by staff and athletes
- Coordinate film exchange with opposing teams and conference requirements
- Support team operations such as travel planning, equipment inventory, and facility scheduling
- Assist with team events, community outreach, and fundraising initiatives
- Perform administrative tasks related to program compliance and communication
- Maintain a positive and professional environment that supports student-athlete development
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in coaching the assigned sport at the collegiate or high school levels required. Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Technical expertise in the assigned sport. Understanding that the academic commitment of athletes at Chapman University takes priority over other commitments including participation in sports.
- Knowledge of applicable NCAA, SCIAC Conference, Chapman University and departmental rules and regulations desired.
