The University of Kentucky is the flagship university and healthcare center in Kentucky and was recently named the No. 1 Hospital in Kentucky by U.S. News & World Report. Lexington is in the heart of the Bluegrass and rightfully is called the Horse Capital of the World. It is surrounded by beautiful landscape and lovely horse farms. The University plays a major role in commerce and cultural enhancement. It is a little over an hour drive from Louisville and Cincinnati and is a vibrant city with many cultural and recreational opportunities all year round. It has a high-quality school system and is a wonderful place to raise a family. We offer a competitive salary and a full array of benefits. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience and achievement. UK HealthCare has grown to a 920-bed healthcare complex with 39,000 discharges per year.

The successful candidate will join a thriving and expanding division. The Division has active clinical interests in the areas of microvascular, Hand, and Craniofacial Surgery. The Hand Center is a collaborative venture between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Patient visits are approaching 12,000 per year and Hand Therapy is embedded into the clinic with over 1,000 visits per month. All aspects of hand surgery are addressed, including trauma, congenital, rheumatoid, and reconstructive surgery. The governance of the Division of Plastic Surgery is under Departmental leadership (Barry Inabnet, MD), which allows synergism between divisions and a robust environment for our residency program, a 6-year integrated residency program with two new residents added annually. We have one Hand Fellow per year under the guidance of the Plastic Surgery RRC. The hand fellow rotates among the faculty members of Orthopedic hand and Plastic Surgery Hand trained physicians.
