What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Professor of Biology (Evening) position at Inside Higher Ed?
Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in Biology for our on-ground program which will be offered at 5:30-8:15 Tuesdays and Thursdays. The successful candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate courses in biology. The teaching responsibility will be BIOL 101 Principles of Biology I and the lab. The didactic portion of the course will be taught on Tuesdays with the lab occurring on Thursdays. Topics for this course include: basic chemistry, biochemistry, the scientific method, cell structure, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, inheritance, molecular biology, and biotechnology. The instructor is responsible for all facets of the lecture and lab, including planning assessments, and lab preparations. Classes Begin August 11th, 2026 for the traditional on-ground program. Teaching contracts may be renewed on a semester-by-semester basis pending enrollment, instructor availability, and student success.

- Hold a Ph.D. in a Biological science or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in a biological field.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Have experience teaching undergraduate courses
- Have experience with Course Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, or D2L.
- Be firmly committed to high-quality instruction for first-generation college students and be familiar with best practices in active learning pedagogies.
