Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit:
This is a new position created to support the launch of the Cole Levin Center for Art and Human Understanding at the Weatherspoon Art Museum on UNCG’s Millennial Campus in 2026. It is entirely supported by funds given for this purpose by Carol Cole Levin.
Position Summary:
The Academic Learning Coordinator monitors the operations of the Weatherspoon Art Museum’s object-based teaching spaces within its Cole Levin Center for Art and Human Understanding, serves as the initial point of contact for the Center, and schedules and supports all academic and educational programming at the Weatherspoon.
Minimum Qualifications:
BACHELOR’S DEGREE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.
Alternate Option:
If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training & experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations.

Essential Tasks:
- Hires, schedules, and supervises student workers who serve as greeters at the Center’s reception desk and provide other support.
Academic Activities Facilitation
Essential Tasks:
- Assists the academic programming curators in planning and implementing learning events.
- Tasks may include developing production schedules, preparing teaching materials, placing catering orders, setting up event furniture and technology, and day-of event management.
- Assists curators as needed in producing educational materials.
Data management
Essential Tasks:
- Tracks attendance and participation across all types of academic engagement (visits, study sessions, and programs), analyzes data, and creates reports and presentations for planning and evaluative purposes.
Administration
Essential Tasks:
- Schedules all academic visits, inclusive of university guided visits, community guided visits, and collection study sessions.
- Works closely with both faculty and community members requesting visits or study sessions, pairing requests with the appropriate staff member or volunteer docent, and updating the museum calendar with all relevant details.
- Manages educational program reservations and space requests.
- Leads necessary cross-departmental communication and planning for the set-up and rotation of artworks used in collection study sessions.
