Job Summary
Plans, implements, and evaluates activities related to academic advising and mentoring College of Business students. Coordinates special events, programs, and activities related to advising, orientation, recruiting and retention. Special Programs assigned to advising position. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Duties
50% - Essential - ACADEMIC ADVISING:
Advisor and mentor for undergraduate students in (or looking to come into) pre-business. Provides support to those students seeking additional academic information, college engagement opportunities, various university support services, and success strategies. Also support, as needed, departmental faculty academic advisors. Maintain appropriate background information/files on services provided.
30% - Essential - SPECIAL PROGRAMS:
Serves as LEAD coordinator for a program essential to the operation of the COB Academic Advising Center, such as Freshman Orientation, Transfer Orientation, Bridge Program, or Retention Programs. Develop and maintain a continuity book for this program. The continuity book will be updated annually and provided for review (in conjunction with your annual review). Participate in appropriate workshops and university meetings. Ensure your back-up is kept up-to-date/trained. Also train other advisors, as needed.
10% - Essential - STUDENT SERVICES:
Participates in Freshmen and Transfer Orientation programs. Will also participate in the CUBS Living and Learning Community program as needed. Will need to participate in other occasional activities, such as Recruitment or Admission events for the College.
10% - Essential - OTHER DUTIES:
Participates in appropriate workshops, university meetings, and other requirements as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree - Experience in student services programs.
Preferred Requirements
Education - 1st Master's Degree - Higher Education or related field
Work Exp 3 years in student services with experience in academic advising
Responsibilities
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
Supervisory Responsibilities
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
Budgetary Responsibilities
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
Physical Requirements
50% - Stand for prolonged period
45% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
70% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
Working Conditions
5% - Occasional overnight travel for conferences or events, occasional work after regular hours for special activities and events
Work Schedule
Standard Hrs: 37.5
Compensation Information
Expected salary range: $39,300 - $47,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel Level
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
