Inserso is seeking to hire a Cabling Technician to install low voltage structured cabling infrastructure supporting Information & Communications Technology (ICT) systems in diverse and complex government facilities. This position will require travel and candidates must possess a working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices applicable to Division 27 Communications. In addition, this position will assist special systems engineers with hardware installation, cross connecting devices, extending Service Provider circuits, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret technical documents to include specifications, basis of design narratives, and floor plans. Also, determine material and equipment needs.
- Perform site assessment surveys to determine existing conditions and develop execution strategies.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and material/equipment purchasing and shipping.
- Lead installation activities on assigned projects to ensure approved requirements are followed to include conduit and surface mount raceways, work area outlet rough-in, J-hooks and cable tray, horizontal and backbone cabling, equipment racks and cabinets, testing and labeling, produce as-built record drawings, and process invoicing documents.
- Be familiar with cabling types to include inside plant (ISP)/outside plant (OSP), CAT 3/CAT 5e/CAT 6/CAT 6a shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP), RG6/RG11 coax, and single mode/multimode fiber optics.
- Experience with mechanical and fusion splicing fiber connectors.
- Respond to correspondence in a timely manner and actively participate in meetings to present information to technical and non-technical audiences, resolve conflicts, respond to requests for information (RFI), and coordinate requirements/schedules.
- Manage assigned projects and maintain a milestone report with real time progress updates.
- Follow government cabling standards and operating procedures.
- Promote continuous improvement by performing ongoing analysis of project performance and lessons learned to improve documentation, processes, and customer service delivery.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant installation experience, preferably in DHS or other similar federal agency.
- Proficient in termination of cabling types: CAT 3/CAT 5e/CAT 6/CAT 6a shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP), RG6/RG11 coax, and single mode/multimode fiber optics.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Attention to detail, ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Effective customer service, verbal/written communication, and presentation skills.
- Building Industry Consultant Service International (BICSI), Technician certification.
- ITIL certified.
- Experience using ITSM systems, such as ServiceNow.
- Building Industry Consultant Service International (BICSI), Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM).
- Outstanding communication skills in both formal and informal formats with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists.
- This work requires that an individual ascend/descend a ladder, position themselves to access computer and related equipment connections, and be able to transport objects or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
