Summary
Inolex is seeking a seasoned Cost Accountant with experience working with a manufacturing environment to ensure the proper and accurate distribution of cost within Inolex, while helping track and manage efficiency in production. This is a role that is dedicated to the cost accounting of products manufacturing primarily at our Charlotte manufacturing site. This role will also work closely with the Charlotte Site Manager and Director of Supply Chain. The position will be responsible for product costing, production order variance analysis (purchase-price, materials and production variances), make vs. buy analyses, assortment rationalization and other production and product-related analyses. This position will be based in our Charlotte, NC location.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain Inolex's cost accounting system; makes recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Develop a documented system of cost accounting policies and procedures, considering appropriate internal controls, related to cost accounting function specifically to standard costing, inventory count, inventory valuation, reserves, etc.
- Participate in the monthly and year-end closing process, including journal entry preparation related to cost accounting
- Review that standard cost is in-line with expected experiences for material, labor and overhead for all production orders. Highlight manufacturing and yield variances.
- Support analyses of potential excess and obsolete inventory items.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of product-level Bills of Materials (BOM’s).
- Calculate and update labor and overhead rates on an annual basis well in advance of the fiscal year-end.
- Develop, calculate, analyze and report key performance metrics.
- Build manufacturing variance reports to identify any issues and implement corrective actions.
- Own all aspects of year-end financial audit with respect to inventory values, standard costs and absorption rates.
- Review and analyze inventory, margins, manufacturing variances (material, labor and overhead) and calculation of capitalized variances.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of inventory, purchase price variances and manufacturing reports highlighting product rework, manufacturing efficiencies and capital expenditures.
- Prepares estimates of new and proposed product costs.
- Partner with Supply Chain on the coordination of Physical Inventory.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain in the preparation of operating and capital budgets, while helping to manage spend on a monthly basis by communicating key variances, updating forecasts and enacting mitigation plans as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Able to manage priorities and workflow while driving process efficiencies.
- Experience working in Manufacturing a requirement.
- Chemicals experience is preferred.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 5-7 years of related experience in manufacturing accounting.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Proficient computer and MRP skills are required. MS Dynamics is strongly preferred.
