Summary
The Application Scientist Intern works within the Applications and Technical service group to enable continued success and expansion of Inolex’s portfolio of products. This position will be located at Inolex R&D Laboratories, Philadelphia, PA. They will play a critical role in both new product innovation as well as new benefit identification.
Brief Description
- Support the development of skin care, hair care, and sun care ingredients/solutions including benefit generation and validation in cross-functional teams.
- Conduct characterization and stability testing of ingredients and formulations.
- Accurately documenting results in lab notebook and electronically for efficient sharing with peers and business partners.
- Maintaining laboratory workspace in clean and safe operating order in compliance with Inolex policies.
- Cross functional collaboration with Inolex colleagues in other R&D groups.
- Execute experiments to evaluate new technologies, identifying insights for technology optimization during the development process.
- Execute formulation projects designed to highlight ingredient benefits and product market-ready prototype formulations using Inolex ingredients.
- Other job duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage workflows, organize data, generate written reports, and communicate results to management, peers, and business partners.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with MS Office applications (such as Excel and PowerPoint).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- A degree in Cosmetic Sciences, Chemistry, Bio Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum two years of undergraduate credits completed; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior work experience with cosmetic ingredients and/or formulations is highly preferred.
- Ability to safely work “hands-on” in a laboratory environment and with scientific instruments for up to six hours per day.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time as needed.
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.
- Must wear designated safety gear when appropriate.
