Summary: DBAs manage and maintain databases, ensuring performance, security, and availability. They optimize database systems and support application development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure database security and access controls.
- Troubleshoot database issues and errors.
- Collaborate with developers to support applications.
- Maintain database documentation and standards.
- Apply patches, upgrades, and migrations.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience as a DBA.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and security practices.
Preferred Skills/Duties:
- Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with cloud database solutions.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases.
- Ability to design and implement high-availability systems.
