Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and collaborative Educational Director to oversee the daily educational operations of our early childhood programs serving children ages 2–5. This position supports general education classrooms (2K, 3K, Pre-K) as well as preschool special education services, including collaboration with Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS), related service providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
The Educational Director will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality instruction, compliance with NYC DOE and NYSED regulations, and strong collaboration between general education and special education staff to support all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Provide instructional leadership for 2K, 3K, and Pre-K classrooms to ensure developmentally appropriate practices aligned with DOE standards.
- Support the implementation of inclusive practices across classrooms serving children with and without IEPs.
- Oversee classroom environments, curriculum implementation, and student engagement.
Special Education Collaboration
- Work closely with our preschool special education principal, teachers, therapists, and SCIS teams to ensure appropriate implementation of IEP goals and supports.
- Facilitate collaboration between general education teachers and special education staff.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and support staff in implementing individualized strategies.
Instructional Support & Coaching
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff.
- Support teachers with lesson planning, curriculum alignment, and classroom management strategies.
- Provide coaching to ensure inclusive and supportive classroom environments.
Compliance & Program Oversight
- Ensure compliance with NYC DOE, NYSED, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, program standards, and reporting requirements.
- Support licensing and quality assurance standards.
Family & Community Engagement
- Foster positive relationships with families and support communication between teachers and families.
- Assist with family workshops, meetings, and school events when needed.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with administrative leadership, program coordinators, and support staff to maintain a high-quality educational program.
- Support professional development initiatives and staff growth.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
- New York State certification in Early Childhood Education and/or Special Education preferred
- Experience working with preschool special education programs and inclusive classrooms
- Strong knowledge of NYC DOE early childhood programs (2K, 3K, Pre-K) preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in inclusive early childhood settings
- Familiarity with IEP implementation and SCIS programs
- Experience supporting both general education and special education classrooms
Compensation
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
