About The Position

The Public Works Superintendent serves as the Village of Marshall’s lead professional responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and supervision of the Streets and Parks Divisions. Working under the direction of the Director of Public Works/Utilities, this hands-on leadership position ensures the Village’s streets, parks, public facilities, stormwater infrastructure, and fleet are maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard while supporting long-term planning and exceptional public service.

The Ideal Candidate

The Village seeks a knowledgeable, hands-on Public Works Superintendent with strong experience in municipal public works operations, including streets, parks, stormwater infrastructure, facilities, and fleet management. This individual will balance day-to-day operational leadership with long-term planning, ensuring Village assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential, as the Public Works Superintendent works closely with staff, Village leadership, residents, contractors, and community partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while fostering a positive team culture and delivering exceptional public service.

Expected Hiring Wage: $31.25/hour ($65,000 annually)

This Position Is Paid Hourly And Includes:

  • Exceptional insurance, benefits, and time-off program.
  • Opportunities for overtime pay.
  • Enrollment in Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Pension.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in public works, construction management, parks management, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal public works, streets, parks, construction, or a related field, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of public infrastructure, parks operations, stormwater systems, fleet management, snow and ice control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff, coordinate work assignments, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, maps, and technical documents.
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver License (Class B) or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
