The City of Sun Prairie seeks a collaborative, strategic, and approachable Human Resources leader with expertise in labor relations, organizational development, and employment law. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who builds strong relationships, provides sound guidance on complex personnel matters, and promotes a positive, engaged workplace culture. This individual will balance day-to-day human resources leadership with long-term workforce planning, champion employee engagement and professional development, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while helping the City remain an employer of choice.

Expected Hiring Range: $116,000-$139,000 (DOQ)

  • Enrollment in Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Pension.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including supervisory and labor relations experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of municipal human resources practices, employment law, labor relations, compensation, benefits administration, and organizational development.
  • Experience advising executive leadership on complex personnel and organizational matters.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, IPMA-SCP, Certified Public Manager (CPM), or comparable credentials are preferred.
