Senior Cloud Platform Administrator
Type: Contract
Location: Orlando, FL -100% Onsite
Role Overview
As a Senior Cloud Platform Administrator, you will bridge the gap between core
infrastructure and data engineering. You will be responsible for building, optimizing, and
maintaining the cloud environments where data pipelines and analytical workloads
thrive. Your focus will be on the scalability, security, and cost-efficiency of our shared
data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, provision, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure cloud
environments on AWS, optimized for data-intensive workloads.
Establish and maintain "guardrails" including IAM, security policies, naming
conventions, and resource tagging.
Enforce operational practices by monitoring, auditing, and optimizing cloud
compute (e.g., EC2, EMR, Snowflake) and storage (e.g., S3) to manage costs.
Build reusable deployment patterns and CI/CD automation to facilitate
environment provisioning for the Data Engineering team.
Manage infrastructure lifecycle using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as
Terraform or CloudFormation.
Monitor platform health, manage alerts, and troubleshoot system-level
bottlenecks to ensure high availability for batch and streaming data pipelines.
Data Platform Maintenance
Administer, patch, and upgrade distributed data processing frameworks and
engines (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Kafka, Hadoop).
Own the database administration lifecycle for cloud-native data stores, including
backup/recovery, query optimization, and HA/DR (High Availability/Disaster
Recovery).
Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud operations, mentoring junior
engineers and assisting Data engineers with environment access and
permissions.
Partner with Data Admin team, Data Strategy, and Compliance teams to ensure
data platforms comply with regulatory and compliance standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
(or equivalent practical experience).
5 years of experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer, Data Platform
Administrator, or DevOps Engineer, with a strong emphasis on data ecosystem
support.
Hands-on administration experience with modern cloud platforms in particularly
AWS.
Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, Cloudera, DataIKU
etc.
Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Containerization stack
such as Docker, and preferably experienced in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions,
GitLab, Jenkins).
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills for cross-
functional collaboration, and a proven track record of creating developer-friendly
platform.
