Position Summary
The Masterbatch Production Technician is responsible for preparing, blending, and processing pigment and additive concentrates (masterbatches) used in BCF yarn extrusion. This position ensures color accuracy, batch consistency, and material readiness to support continuous yarn production. The technician maintains high standards of safety, quality, and process control while collaborating closely with color laboratory and extrusion teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate and monitor masterbatch compounding and blending equipment to produce pigment and additive concentrates according to color recipes and production plans.
· Accurately weigh, mix, and feed raw materials, pigments, and additives per formulation specifications.
· Perform in-process checks to ensure color consistency, dispersion, and moisture control.
· Clean, maintain, and prepare compounding lines and mixers between production runs to avoid contamination.
· Follow standard procedures for labeling, storing, and documenting finished masterbatch inventory.
· Perform in-process quality testing and use the MES to ensure accurate inventory tracking and documentation.
· Assist in troubleshooting masterbatch process issues that impact yarn color or extrusion performance.
· Collaborate with the Quality and Extrusion teams to adjust formulations or parameters when needed.
· Conduct equipment checks and report mechanical or quality issues to maintenance and supervision promptly.
· Maintain accurate production logs, material usage reports, and batch traceability documentation.
· Adhere to all safety policies, including proper PPE use, chemical handling, and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications & Experience
· High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Vocational training preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in plastic compounding, color masterbatch, or polymer processing (preferably in BCF or fiber extrusion).
· Working knowledge of color mixing, pigment dispersion, and polymer blending.
· Familiarity with extrusion, blending, or mixing equipment operation and maintenance.
· Basic math and measurement skills with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to interpret color formulas and follow standardized operating procedures.
· Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
· Basic computer literacy for production entry and quality documentation.
