Position Title: Varsity Boys Flag Football Assistant Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director & Head Varsity Boys Flag Football Coach
Location: Innovation Charter School High School, New York, New York
Position Type: Seasonal (Mid-August - Early November)
Position Summary
The Varsity Boys Flag Football Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing
and leading a competitive program that promotes athletic skill, teamwork, sportsmanship,
and academic success. The assistant coach will play a key role in player development,
practice preparation, and creating a positive environment where student-athletes can
thrive both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
● Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practices, games, and team
activities.
● Teach flag football fundamentals, techniques, and strategies appropriate to high
school athletes.
● Provide position-specific instruction and assist with conditioning and skill
development.
● Support game-day responsibilities including warm-ups, substitutions, and sideline
management.
● Help evaluate players during tryouts and throughout the season, offering
constructive feedback.
● Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and team accountability.
● Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes’ success in the
classroom.
● Assist with program logistics such as equipment, uniforms, and facility usage.
● Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Head Coach.
Qualifications
● Prior coaching and/or playing experience in flag football, tackle football, or a
related sport.
● Strong knowledge of flag football rules, strategies, and skill development
methods.
● Excellent communication, collaboration, and motivational skills.
● Ability to connect with high school student-athletes and foster growth on and off
the field.
● CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
● Demonstrated ability to mentor student-athletes in athletics, academics, and
character development.
● Familiarity with modern technologies (game changer, student tracker, video
analysis, conditioning tools, etc.).
Supervisor:
The Athletic Director or their designee.
Compensation
Compensation will be in accordance with the school’s coaching stipend schedule.
