Position Title: Head Boys Soccer Coach (Varsity)
Reports To: Athletic Director
Location: Innovation Charter High School, New York, New York
Position Type: Seasonal (Mid-August- Early November)
Position Summary
The High School Soccer Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a
competitive soccer program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and
academic success. The coach will provide a positive and structured environment that promotes
athletic growth while supporting the mission and values of Innovation Charter High School.
Key Responsibilities
● Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, games, and team activities.
● Teach fundamental and advanced soccer skills, strategies, and conditioning.
● Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive team culture that prioritizes respect, effort, and
character.
● Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for growth.
● Manage team selection through a fair and transparent tryout process.
● Ensure players adhere to school, league, and state athletic policies and regulations.
● Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, teachers, and administrators.
● Monitor student-athlete academic performance and support their success in the
classroom.
● Maintain and care for equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
● Represent the program with professionalism at games, school events, and community
functions.
Qualifications
● Previous soccer coaching and/or playing experience required (high school, club, or higher
level preferred).
● Demonstrated ability to mentor student-athletes both on and off the field.
● Knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and modern training methods.
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
● Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, and school staff
● Familiarity with modern technologies (game changer, student tracker, video analysis,
conditioning tools, etc.).
● CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Supervisor:
The Athletic Director or their designee.
Compensation
Compensation will be in accordance with the school’s coaching stipend schedule.
