Manager of Preconstruction Estimating

Location: Dallas, TX
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – in office, field-based, remote work, and regional travel
Salary: $150,000–$200,000 base salary
Bonus: Up to 20% bonus
Additional Compensation/Benefits: 4% 401(k) match, $1,000/month vehicle allowance or company truck plus gas card, cell phone reimbursement, and potential eligibility for a manager incentive program after one year

About the Role

Innovar Group is seeking a Manager of Preconstruction Estimating for a high-impact regional leadership role supporting complex infrastructure, mission-critical, mechanical, electrical, and underground construction projects. This position will oversee regional estimating efforts, lead and develop estimating teams, support bid strategy, and help drive consistency across preconstruction processes.

This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative role working closely with estimating, sales, operations, project delivery, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will bring both hands-on estimating experience and proven leadership experience managing direct reports.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee regional estimating efforts across assigned service lines and project types.

• Lead, train, and develop estimators within the region.

• Manage estimating resources and allocate team members to active pursuits and estimates.

• Partner with sales, operations, delivery, and leadership teams on bid strategy and project pursuit decisions.

• Participate in Go/No-Go discussions and provide input on project risk, scope, resources, and estimating strategy.

• Validate regional estimates for accuracy, including production rates, labor rates, subcontractor/vendor quotes, quantities, and overall data quality.

• Participate in bid reviews and lead bid reviews that fall within internal preconstruction approval authority.

• Maintain and support estimating programs, master estimates, templates, and estimating tools.

• Ensure estimating practices align with company standards, Salesforce processes, reporting expectations, and internal preconstruction workflows.

• Support the development, documentation, and improvement of estimating SOPs.

• Drive collaboration across departments to improve consistency, speed, and quality of estimates.

• Provide leadership, accountability, and coaching to estimating team members across the region.

Required Experience

• Experience in a manager/director-level or senior estimating leadership role.

• Prior experience managing direct reports; at least one direct report required.

• Strong hands-on estimating background across complex construction environments.

• Experience supporting a mix of service lines, such as mechanical, electrical, underground, industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical construction.

• Experience with HeavyBid and Accubid is required.

• Strong understanding of estimating processes, bid reviews, labor rates, production rates, quotes, and preconstruction workflows.

• Ability to work effectively with estimating, sales, operations, project delivery, and executive leadership teams.

• Strong leadership, communication, training, and team development skills.

• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

• Willingness to work in a hybrid capacity with travel throughout the assigned territory.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal background includes experience with underground construction and mission-critical projects.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Experience maintaining estimating systems, master estimates, and estimating standards.

• Experience developing or improving estimating SOPs.

• Exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM/sales process tools.

• Experience working across multiple construction service lines.
